  EXPERIMENT 1

                                EXPERIMENT 1

AIM:  To prepare the soluble salt zinc sulphate (white vitriol)

Material:  zinc metal and dil sulphuric acid

Procedure:     1.take dil sulphuric acid in a beaker and heat it on a wire gauze.Add some granulated zinc pieces ,a little at a time ,with constant stirring.

2.Effervescence takes place.    Add zinc till the metal settles at the base of the beaker.

When  effervescence stops, it indicates that all the acid has been used up.

3.The excess of zinc is filtered off.

4.Collect the solution in a china dish.

Evaporate the solution in a china dish to get crystals.

Filter, wash them with water  and dry them between the folds of a filter paper.

SHAPE AND COLOUR OF CRYSTALS:   white needle shaped crystals

                         EXPERIMENT 2

AIM:   TO PREPARE THE INSOLUBLE SALT (LEAD CHLORIDE)

Material:     lead  nitrate ,sodium chloride

Procedure:   1.   Prepare the aq. Solutions of lead nitrate and sodium chloride.

2.     mix the solutions.

3.       Filter  the solution.

4.       The heavy, white precipitates of  lead chloride accumulate as residue on the filter paper.

5.    It is then washed repeatedly with cold water

6.   The precipitates is taken in a china dish with some water and heated till  the precipitates of  lead chloride dissolves. The solution is then cooled.
